1. Counselling

Forth Valley College Counselling Support is available for learners who need someone impartial to talk to about your mental and emotional needs. If you feel you would benefit from counselling, please complete the Student Counselling Request Form on Moodle, you will find this in the Student Hub section under Mental Health and Wellbeing. Our service is available on all campuses and online.

2. Mental Health and Wellbeing

Forth Valley College has launched a Mental Health & Wellbeing Service to support and guide students who are affected by, or currently caring for others affected by, adverse mental health. This is a needs-led, bespoke service that will help students to achieve their learning outcomes and develop the skills to succeed in college and beyond. Our service is available on all campuses and online.

3. Learning Support

At Forth Valley College, we work hard to support all of our students. We understand that everyone is an individual and that you may require some additional support to help you achieve your full potential. Within our Student Support Team, we have highly experienced Learning Support Advisors (LSA) who provide learning and teaching related support to students with Additional Support Needs.

4. Support and Guidance

The Support and Guidance Advisors can support you finding the right course. They’ll be able to point you in the right direction based on your future career aspirations, skills and strengths, qualifications and experience. They are also our safeguarding team. Additionally, they can support learners with concerns regarding funding, mental health, as well as SAAS and UCAS applications.

5. Funding

It is important to know about the different types of funding support available to you whilst studying at college. You should apply for the relevant funding as soon as you can to ensure this is in place for the start of your course.

6. Student Association

The Student Association team represents all Forth Valley College students to ensure your voice is heard across the College.

• Representing the student body through events and key college groups

• Providing support and training for Class Representatives

• Seeking feedback from students on key issues

• Inviting students to get in touch with their views

7. One to One Support

If you are accessing support from a Learning Support Advisor (LSA), you may be referred to one of our Learning Skills and Resource Assistants (LSRA) who work in our Learning Resource Centres. Our LSRAs can help you with a range of areas, such as study skills, note-taking strategies, and exam preparation.
