Black Queer resources, communities and media for representation and support

Taj Donville-Outerbridge (They/Them)

Taj Donville-Outerbridge (They/Them) is an unapologetic Black, Queer award-winning human rights activist, writer, and student. They are an active champion and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, mental health, sustainability, intersectionality, decolonization, and anti-racism at the university level, national level, and internationally.

The following guide provides a detailed list of resources, social media accounts, events, and media content designed for Black LGBTQ+ individuals. These resources aim to reflect our experiences positively, both in media and in real life, and offer support and community connection.

The intersection of race and LGBTQ+ identity can present unique challenges, but it also fosters a rich tapestry of culture, resilience, and community. This guide is intended to serve as a semi-comprehensive resource for Black LGBTQ+ students seeking support, community, and representation across the UK. As a Black LGBTQ+ individual, I have navigated the complexities of finding spaces and content that truly affirm my identity. This list is a collection of resources that I have personally found to be empowering, supportive, and uplifting. Created with love and a deep desire to share these affirming experiences, I hope that you, too, will find at least one resource that resonates with you and enhances your journey towards self-acceptance and community.
